I think I know why the greeks didn’t make railroads, it’s because they had the mindset and high understanding to make the steam engine but when it come to the railroads and technology it needed chips and wires and led lights which even for the smart philosophers was too advanced and needed decades of understanding of things so like they didn’t have the skill points lol
They couldn’t really makes a steam locomotive because the invention of the Piston and Cylinder wasn’t thought of yet. Not to mention it would take an immense amount of time and material to jump from a small steam toy to an over 20 ton locomotive. I know steam locomotives so I know what I’m talking about. I mean, thing about how long in steam technology it took for them to thing of the super heater to heat the steam PAST the boiling point of water to increase efficiency. No way we’re the ancient Greeks gonna think of a steam locomotive.
While true that pistons has yet to be invented, I still think that they could have used some sort of cog mechanism to raise the torque to a sustainable force which would allow wagons to travel at rudimentary speeds.
I mean, it’s not just the fact they didn’t have pistons and cylinders jnvented back then, because if some magical time traveller would give every philosopher in ancient Greece blueprints for cylinders, pistons and all of that crap, they would still be unable to make them, because of lack of resources, no really ancient Greeks didn’t have that high quality metals to manufacture any of the parts steam locomotive would need
the guy ain’t kidding around with the steam engine. a guy name Hero of Alexandria did build a steam engine that rotated a copper ball around, but it was ultimately useless due to it’s lack of… well, use.
