i got drunk and wrote an essay about this comic. i’m going to send that essay in multiple boxes because the text will not fit on my phone. i had a lot of fun writing it
this comic is actually super interesting, morally speaking, as to why i’m ok with it. i understand why people aren’t ok with it, but i will make a fairly basic argument for gooning to this comic to be morally ok. #PhilosophyMajorTime let’s get the negatives of this comic out of the way first, so that people aren’t trying to call me out in the comments. yes this takes place at a school, and that’s fucked up. yes this is human trafficking and SA, and that’s fucked up. my argument for this comic being neither right nor wrong to goon to is threefold. Firstly, the characters aren’t children, secondly that the type of SA and human trafficking portrayed in this comic aren’t
possible, and third, that these characters are all common fictional-crushes and sexual-awakening characters for the queer community, and the total utility of this comic outweighs the total negative happiness caused by it. First, to cover the idea that the characters are not children. when it comes to comics and cartoons, how old the character looks does matter in terms of sexual attraction. if a character LOOKS LIKE A CHILD, NO MATTER THE AGE, IS TO BE CONSIDERED A CHILD, AND A CHARACTER THAT LOOKS LIKE AN ADULT, IS AN ADULT, NO MATTER
THE AGE. these characters, despite wearing schoolgirl outfits, are drawn to look like adults. schoolgirl outfits are weird imo, but it’s an unfortunate porn trope that i’ve kind of grown to ignore. the best live action examples of this i can think of are Game of Thrones and Euphoria, BOTH showing characters who both look like and are played by adults in sexual situations like this. i could be wrong but all of the characters here either are portrayed as adults in their piece of fiction, are canonically are adults.
now that we’ve established the characters are adults, let’s go over why this isn’t normalizing any form of sex trafficking or SA. THIS IS NOT AN ARGUMENT FOR ALL FICTION THAT SHOWS SA OR SEX TRAFFICKING IN A SEXUAL WAY, JUST FOR THIS ONE: but this appears to be a school made and run to reform girls **into** whores, i hate to be this girl, but this entire comic seemed more like CNC and kink than actual sex trafficking, and even if it were actual sex trafficking, there’s is no actual way that an entire school could be faked for any amount of time in order to kidnap people, it’s not a plan that makes sense in any way. as for the sexual assault, shit is just as unrealistic as the kidnapping plan, literally all of it was done incredibly publicly, some even in front of actual news cameras.
There is a huge difference between actually potentially triggering levels of Sexual Assault, and Game of Thrones/smut/CNC sexual violence, and based on the unrealisticness of the type of SA experienced, as someone who loves CNC because of ~past trauma~, this comic is firmly in the spot of ‘catharsis and a bit of a fucked up turn-on’ and definitely not in a ‘oh god i feel gross about everything and want to cry and puke’ spot. my final point is probably my weakest point, it i already started writing so…
Essentially, all of these characters are some of the VERY most common sexual awakening characters for young queers, especially me where if you just added in a couple of other comic characters i’d have just…. exploded. and how many other comics have you found with ALL THESE CHARACTERS? hell, how many lesbian x-men comics have you found on this app? trust me, there’s not many, so the average happiness
caused by this comic, especially for queers, is greater than the amount of pain that it could ever cause. thank you for letting me use my philosophy major for once while i’m drunk, i know this is a purely rule utilitarian argument, but deontology wouldn’t allow any porn at all, and virtue ethics is dumb and doesn’t apply, so it’s a purely act/rule utilitarian argument.
MY ONE EXCEPTION TO LITERALLY EVERYTHING I JUST SAID!! if someone is a teacher reading this, you shouldn’t be a teacher. teachers should not be sexually attracted to students, no matter what. that is morally reprehensible and you know exactly why. get therapy. my argument is about the average person, not the weird gooner teacher trying to be ‘friends’ with the students and lowkey sexually harassing them. you know who you are.
to summarize for the TLDR people, the characters are drawn as adults, the ‘school’ portrayed seems to be a school made to turn women into sluts, and is public about that fact, the SA and human trafficking parts are so dumb and unrealistic and smutified that there’s no way this comic is convincing people to commit those acts, and the characters are common sexual awakenings for the queer community and with this comic having a a large percent than other comics it’s causing enough happiness that any happiness lost by this comic is already being made up for.
